Funds help support the shelter’s elevated, comprehensive efforts to protect homeless clients, front-line workers, and community-at-large served throughout the pandemic
City National Bank (CNB) awarded a grant to Camillus House as part of the bank’s $1 million COVID Relief Fund aimed at supporting nonprofit organizations that are confronting the Coronavirus pandemic and its resulting economic impacts. Camillus House will use funds to install a UVC Germicidal Air Handler Treatment System at their main Norwegian Cruise Line campus to kill germs, viruses and more importantly, keep clients served and team members safe. The remaining funds help support increased staffing expenses.
“Through the main campus, Camillus provides housing and services to more than 400 vulnerable and immunocompromised persons at any given time. City National Bank’s generous support enables us to continue to maintain a clean and safe environment, and the means to reduce the spread of infection—while providing for the needs of homeless individuals,” Camillus House CEO Hilda M. Fernandez said. “Our amazing staff works diligently each day to keep those we serve healthy, and thanks to the support from community partners like City National Bank, our efforts are working,” she added.
According to City National Bank Vice Chairman & CEO Jorge Gonzalez “CNB supports more than 300 nonprofits annually, but we’re stepped up with additional funding for organizations that are making a direct, measurable impact in areas of great need related to the pandemic.” He added, “Vulnerable segments of the population, including the homeless, have been some of the most impacted during the pandemic. CNBFL’s COVID-19 Relief Fund will provide much-needed assistance to Camillus House, which has provided social and health services to more than 17,000 people annually, with a focus on the homeless and impoverished.”
