FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 23, 2020-Miami, FL – Amerant Bancorp Inc. recently awarded a generous grant to Camillus House to support its recognized and essential Art Therapy program offered without charge for clients served at their main Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) campus. Participants embrace the weekly classes as a sanctuary where they create works of art to help heal and inspire themselves and others.

“We appreciate the generous support from Amerant for our impactful Arts Therapy program, which offers an average of 212 clients a choice of 1,433 classes annually in a variety of artistic mediums,” said Hilda M. Fernandez, CEO of Camillus House. “The program has shown to be an effective spiritual haven to those recovering from behavioral issues that underlie homelessness, and for those meeting the challenges of emotional and physical disabilities.”

The Art Therapy program aligns with Camillus House’s aim to reach and meet the homeless in Miami-Dade County and lift them out of their circumstance by providing programs and services with compassionate hospitality and respect.

“Amerant has a long-standing commitment to supporting the community and the arts. Although we are unable to host our client art showcase with Camillus this year, we are proud to continue our support to this essential organization as we commend their work and programs, like Art Therapy,” said Beatriz Junco-Gonzalez, Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility Manager at Amerant and Camillus House board member. “It is a privilege to ensure the women and men served at Camillus still experience the joy of art especially during these challenging times.”

Camillus House is proud to work with Amerant and continue to provide participants with a program that benefits both their mental and physical health through learning new artistic skills, reducing stress and bolstering self-esteem. Through daily guides lessons or open studio classes, teachers bring to light the therapeutic and positive aspects of art.
