Homeless Prevention Assistance Program
Camillus House provides assistance to households at risk of becoming homeless due to court-ordered eviction, or for similar reasons. Assistance to individuals and families who qualify for help from Camillus House depends on the specifics of homeless prevention programs we offer.
For homeless prevention assistance, please call 1-877-994-4357, select your language, and then press “1” to select the option: “If you are at risk of homelessness.” You will be transferred to a Homeless Prevention Helpline Specialist who can assist you.
NEW PROGRAM: Camillus House has received Federal CARES Act funding for the Homeless Prevention Rental Assistance Program (HP-RAP). This homeless prevention program helps individuals and families who are facing difficult financial times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are at immediate risk of experiencing homelessness by providing rental and utilities assistance to very low-income residents who qualify for help.
Because emergency shelters in Miami-Dade County do not take walk-ins, the Homeless Helpline is the best way to secure help for anyone experiencing homelessness.
Mobile outreach teams serve as the “front door” to the homeless system and teams canvas the entire geographic area of Miami-Dade County identifying individuals living in places not meant for human habitation such as the streets, cars, parks or abandoned buildings. Our outreach teams also partner with school personnel, police departments and others to identify homeless households.
Outreach teams coordinate with hospitals, courts and other institutions to coordinate and plan the discharge of persons experiencing homelessness.
Designated access points are also established to assess and assist vulnerable homeless sub-populations, including unaccompanied youth, persons fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or stalking and veterans.
For additional resources and support, call 1-877-994-4357.
