One person’s trash is another man’s treasure…especially when that young man is Josh Finvarb. A 12th grader at Miami Country Day School, Josh wanted to find a way to help others.

After hearing about Camillus House and its shower program, which welcomes homeless individuals off the streets and into a safe place to have a shower, clean clothes and more, Josh had a powerful idea: Shower4Power.

Knowing that the very items needed for a shower are usually left behind at hotels, the 17-year-old founded Shower4Power two years ago to recycle lightly used bottles of shampoos, conditioners and body washes from hotels and donate them to Camillus House. Donation boxes were placed in hotels and when filled, he collects, inspects, and delivers the needed items to Camillus House.

During the pandemic, Josh also donates other items clients enjoy, like activity books, as seen in the photo with Community Relations Manager Alessandra Laricchia.

we thank Josh for turning his generosity and resourcefulness into a gift that touches countless lives. As Walt Disney said, “Imagination has no age, and dreams are forever…”
